The Journey

Pastor Beth Frykberg, Mission Elder Deb Concklin, and Deacon Constance Tamon   completed a mission trip to Cameroon in May, 2007.   They experienced a country that is suffering from a widespread AIDS/HIV virus pandemic that is causing unparalleled human misery, large numbers of orphaned children and an astonishing death toll.   Graciously welcomed by the gentle people of Cameroon, they observed first hand the enormous social problems and economic challenges as they toured villages, medical facilities, schools, and an orphanage.

Our Team in Cameroon

While in Cameroon a team of reliable and faithful people were identified who would do the laborious and logistical  work of  measuring the children for uniforms, purchasing appropriate texts, shoes, backpacks, etc., and placing the children in foster care. We started our own legal entity and NGO which is Orphan Compassion in Cameroon.  The NGO is administered by Olivia Tamon who is an attorney and received her masters in Internation Human Rights Law in London.  She returned to Cameroon specifically to “help her people.”  Her e-mail address is: tamonolivia@yahoo.com

Other team members are:

Richard Tau (Richard is currently translating the Bible into the Metta language)

Michael Tamon (Michael is a businessman and the project manager for the orphan care effort).

Rev. Charles Darah is the youth pastor of the 5,000 member First Presbyterian Church  of Bamenda.

Our Cameroon team provides information and accounting of how our funds raised here bring safety, education, and care to the vulnerable children there.

Both The Orphan Compassion Project Compassion Auxiliary work together to provide educational aid and foster care to children who have become orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Cameroon, Africa.

Project Goals

The Orphan Compassion Project evolved from the passionate desire of Constance Tamon and then her church and community to protect and help the children whose parents have died in the tragic HIV/AIDS pandemic.   The goal of Orphan Compassion is to help at least 200 identified children per year have foster care and education.  Here is how you can help:

  • $25 will provide tuition to school for one year.
  • $75 will provide texts, workbooks, a back pack, and a pair of shoes.
  • $100 will enable a family to foster an orphan covering food and care for one year.
  • $200 will meet all the financial needs of the orphan for one full year.

Any amount will be greatly appreciated.  Tax Deductible Checks may be made out to:
